Essex and Wales collide when Gavin and Stacey fall in love, bringing their friends, family and baggage with them. Apart from the scenes filmed on location in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including scenes set in Essex. The house that was used as the Shipmans’ house. The house (Gavin’s family) is in Dinas Powys, a village a mile north-west of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In Series 3, Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers to those in the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo has been changed from a T-reg (my year 1999) to an X-reg (my year 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso has been changed from a CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to an HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are clearly different cars. Featured in Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). Starring Stephen Fretwell. Absolutely top-notch comedy, top-notch acting, and the writing is incredible. This is truly one of the best comedy series I’ve seen in years. Following the relationship between Gavin (Matthew Horne: Teachers and Catherine Tate) and Stacey (Joanna Page) from their initial flirtation on the phone to their wedding day and beyond, this show is expertly written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who also plays Gavin and Stacey’s best friends Smithy and Ness (who totally stole the show in my opinion). Anyone who gives this show a bad review clearly has no sense of humor and no appreciation for decent comedy!
